Vignette Alert: What Every Driver Needs to Know About the Latest Updates
Key News About Vignettes: Electronic Receipts and Expiration Reminders
The National Customs Office has sent a message to citizens regarding the absence of a sticker, emphasizing that the service is valid if an electronic receipt has been received.
Between August 1, 2023, and August 30, 2024, the National Customs Office sent 67,074 emails to citizens who were driving without paying a toll based on time or distance traveled, according to Regional Development Minister Violeta Koritarova.
Changes adopted in the Law on Roads since the beginning of last year state that citizens who have received electronic receipts, as well as those who have paid an annual or quarterly vignette, receive messages by email, respectively, for the receipt given and for the same vignette that expires.
Additionally, the National Customs Office sent out 232,361 messages informing citizens that their annual vignette expires in 14 days. Another 227,557 messages were sent to people’s emails informing them that there were 2 days left to use the service.
For monthly vignettes that expire during the period June 1, 2023 – August 30, 2024, 17,683 notifications were sent that there were 2 days left to use the service, the minister noted. By law, if users have paid their tolls through the National Service Providers, they receive the relevant reminders.
