The Supreme Court has prolonged the interim security granted to Madhya pradesh minister Vijay Shah in a criminal case involving alleged derogatory remarks against army officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi. The case stems from Shah’s press briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which Qureshi attended.
The order followed a status report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which requested additional time to finalize its investigation into the Vijay Shah controversy. The SIT report, details the investigation’s progress to date.
According to the SIT report, the investigation is ongoing and multifaceted, currently in its early stages. The SIT outlined its investigative steps, including studying the FIR and High Court order, devising an investigation plan, and collecting documents from the manpur police station.
Investigators visited Raikunda village, the site of the alleged remarks, and seized video footage from a local journalist’s mobile phone. The videos were compared and deemed to be recorded simultaneously occurring and location. The SIT is also identifying and interviewing witnesses who attended the program, using videos, photos, and recorded statements. Shah’s apologies and statements to the media have been compiled as part of the investigation.
The SIT also examined the transcript prepared by the former investigating officer, but a forensic examination of the video was returned due to a lack of technical resources. Other news reports and digital content related to the case have been collected, confirming Shah’s presence at the event and the alleged comment.
