Färjestad BK forward Viktor Lodin has addressed the circulation of rumors regarding his health and professional status following a period of absence from the ice. The player has expressed that it is painful to see misinformation spread while he has been dealing with significant physical setbacks.
Lodin’s absence from critical games was attributed to a severe injury. Reports indicate that the star forward suffered what has been described as a frightful injury
, which eventually led to him undergoing surgery.
Recovery and Return to Play
Following the surgical procedure, Lodin worked toward a return to the lineup. In early August, he underwent a minor procedure that was expected to sideline him for three weeks. However, Lodin returned to full training with Färjestad one week ahead of that schedule.
During his return to training, coach Jörgen Jönsson noted Lodin’s energy and eagerness to rejoin the team. Lodin himself admitted that while his lung capacity had not yet fully returned, he was pleased to be back in full training and away from the sidelines.
Disciplinary Action and Slew-footing Incident
Beyond his injury struggles, Lodin has also faced disciplinary action from the SHL’s disciplinary committee. During a match between Färjestad and Rögle, Lodin was involved in an incident in the middle of the first period where he knocked down Calle Själin.

Although no penalty was assessed during the game, the disciplinary committee later ruled that Lodin committed a slewfoot
, which is defined as a leg trip performed simultaneously with a push to the upper body. The committee determined that the risk of injury in such a maneuver is high.
…it was not a big trip or greater force in the push, but a struggle for position where I am careless with my leg which gets him out of balance and in a bad position that he falls in the ice from
Viktor Lodin in a statement to the disciplinary committee
As a result of this ruling, Lodin was suspended for the following match. At the time of the suspension, Färjestad held a 3–1 lead in their quarter-final series.
Career Context and Contract
Lodin joined Färjestad following the relegation of Oskarshamn in the spring of 2024. During his initial tenure, he recorded 44 points, consisting of 17 goals and 27 assists across 50 regular-season games, and added one assist in four playoff appearances.
In December 2024, Lodin solidified his future with the club by signing a new four-year contract. This agreement extends his commitment to Färjestad through the 2028/29 season.
Lodin’s professional history also includes time with Timrå IK between 2020 and 2022. He has since spoken openly about the difficulties he faced during his time in Timrå, specifically mentioning his regret regarding drug offenses and the impact those actions had on others.
More recently, Lodin has expressed his admiration for coach Abbott, stating a strong desire to play under him as he continues his career in the SHL.
