Aston Villa Secures Thrilling 3-2 Win Over Everton in English Football League
Sharjah 24 – Asad Khalil: Aston Villa secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over their visitors Everton in the fourth round of the English Football League.
Everton surprised the hosts by taking the lead with Dwight McNeil’s first goal after 16 minutes. Dominic Calvert-Lewin added a second goal for the visitors in the 27th minute, but the Everton side failed to capitalize on the revival.
Instead, Ollie Watkins, the Aston Villa and England striker, succeeded in closing the gap with a header in the 36th minute. Watkins equalized in the 58th minute of the second half.
Aston Villa grabbed the winner in the 76th minute with a missile shot from substitute striker John McGinn, which hit the right clip of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Aston Villa moved up to third on nine points, level with Liverpool, who lost by one goal to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. As for Everton, they missed out on a win within their reach, with four consecutive defeats leaving them bottom of the standings without points in twentieth place.
