Viral Smooth Chocolate Bar Post Leads to £2 Compensation for Man
Harry Seager, a 34-year-old broadcaster from Buckinghamshire, UK, received £2 ($3.91) after posting a picture of a smooth chocolate bar. His post on the Dull Men’s Club Facebook page received over 15,000 reactions and 3,000 comments. Seager bought the chocolate bar while traveling to a classic car show in Birmingham.
He did not initially want compensation; he wanted to know why the ripple effect was missing from the bar. After forgetting about it for a day, he decided to contact Mars Wrigley UK, the chocolate’s manufacturer. However, the company did not answer his question and instead offered him a voucher.
Seager expressed that the compensation was nice but noted the company avoided his question about the manufacturing issue. Eventually, Mars Wrigley UK explained that the bar “slipped” through a part of the production line that normally creates the ripple effect.
Commenters on Seager’s original post had figured out the issue, suggesting that a missing blower in the production process led to the smooth surface. Following his post, other Dull Men’s Club members began sharing their own smooth chocolate bars. One member even playfully suggested tracking candy sales trends linked to this incident.
