Virgin Atlantic has filed updated operational plans for the Northern Summer 2026 season, marking significant frequency increases on routes to India and capacity adjustments across its North American network. The airline submitted additional service changes to planned operations in the days leading up to March 30, 2026, reflecting adjustments to aircraft deployment and weekly frequencies on key intercontinental routes.

According to network data published by AeroRoutes on March 30, 2026, the carrier is expanding its presence in the Indian market, specifically targeting Bengaluru. The airline plans to increase service between London Heathrow and Bengaluru from seven to 13 weekly flights effective June 1, 2026. This expansion utilizes the Boeing 787-9 aircraft for all scheduled services on the route.

The schedule filing details specific flight numbers and timings for the increased frequency. Outbound flights from London Heathrow include VS316 and multiple iterations of VS346, with departure times ranging from 15:40 to 22:25 local time. Return services from Bengaluru, designated as VS317 and VS347, are scheduled to arrive back in London throughout the afternoon and evening.

India Network and Canada Connections

In addition to the Bengaluru frequency hike, Virgin Atlantic is adjusting its aircraft allocation for the London Heathrow to Delhi route. From April 1, 2026, through October 13, 2026, the airline will operate a daily service using the 397-seater Airbus A350-1000. This replaces a previous schedule configuration that mixed 397-seater and 335-seater aircraft on a weekly basis. The overall daily frequency remains one flight per day, shared between the A350-1000 and the Boeing 787-9.

India Network and Canada Connections

The focus on Indian connections has implications for travelers from North America. TravelPulse Canada reported on March 31, 2026, that the airline announced tweaks to its 2026 schedule to better reflect customer demand, noting that the changes make India connections easier from Canada. The airline maintains a partnership with IndiGo, which allows for seamless connections to 33 cities across India, including Goa, Jaipur, and Amritsar, from its London hub.

North American Capacity Adjustments

Significant capacity increases are planned for the carrier’s flagship route to New York JFK. Total one-way capacity offered from London Heathrow to JFK between March 29, 2026, and October 24, 2026, now stands at 383,781 seats. This represents an increase from the initially filed 349,514 seats. The overall service frequency is set to increase from 42 to 45 weekly flights by late-April 2026, with the exception of the period from late-July to early-September.

Several specific flight numbers on the JFK route are seeing aircraft swaps. VS003/004 will operate daily with either the Airbus A330-900neo or A350-1000, rather than the A330-900neo only. VS009/010 service will commence on April 12, 2026, rather than May 1, 2026, operating daily with the A350-1000. VS153/154 is scheduled for the entire season as a daily flight, replacing a previous filing of three weekly flights starting March 29, 2026.

On the West Coast, the London Heathrow to Los Angeles route will see alternating aircraft types. Effective October 1, 2026, flight VS007/008 will see the Boeing 787-9 operate on alternating days with the A350-1000. Flight VS141/142 will see the 787-9 replace the A350-1000 effective March 29, 2026, with exceptions for alternating day operations between October 1 and October 19, 2026. The service will operate one daily flight for the entire season, an increase from the four weekly flights filed from March 30, 2026.

Seasonal Route Changes

Virgin Atlantic is also increasing frequency to Las Vegas from London Heathrow. Effective August 31, 2026, weekly flights will increase from seven to between 10 and 11, operated by the Boeing 787-9. The Manchester to Las Vegas route will see a temporary reduction from three to two weekly flights between July 19, 2026, and August 30, 2026, utilizing the 397-seater A350-1000.

In the Caribbean, the London Heathrow to Montego Bay service is being adjusted. Effective March 29, 2026, the frequency will reduce from the initially filed one daily flight to four weekly, operated by the A330-900neo. However, the airline announced on March 30, 2026, that it intends to return to one daily flight by June 1, 2026, with reservations for the extra flights opening on April 4, 2026. The Manchester to Orlando route will see a significant seasonal increase from 11 to 19 weekly flights between July 19, 2026, and August 30, 2026.

Service to Riyadh has faced continued disruption. Virgin Atlantic announced on March 30, 2026, an extended service cancellation for the London Heathrow to Riyadh route. The airline had previously tentatively planned to resume service on April 8, 2026, at the earliest, while reducing frequency from seven to six weekly. The latest filing confirms the cancellation extension.

New Routes and Fleet Deployment

A new route is scheduled to launch from London Heathrow to Seoul Incheon. Effective March 29, 2026, the airline plans to operate one daily flight using the Boeing 787-9. This addition expands the carrier’s network into Northeast Asia for the summer season.

Fleet deployment across the network shows a heavy reliance on the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-9 for long-haul sectors. On the London Heathrow to Boston route, VS011/012 will see the 787-9 replace the A330-900neo between March 29, 2026, and October 14, 2026. VS157/158 will utilize the A350-1000 to replace the A330-900neo between June 11, 2026, and June 24, 2026.

The London Heathrow to Miami route involves complex aircraft rotations. VS005/006 will utilize the 335-seater A350-1000 from March 29, 2026, to April 14, 2026, before switching to the A330-900neo until October 13, 2026. During the peak summer period from July 19, 2026, to August 29, 2026, the Boeing 787-9 is scheduled to operate, replacing the previously filed A330-900neo.

These filings indicate a strategic shift in capacity management for the Northern Summer 2026 season, prioritizing high-demand business routes to India and key transatlantic hubs while adjusting seasonal leisure capacity in the Caribbean and North America.
