Virginia AG Miyares’ PAC Sees Success Electing Conservative Prosecutors

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is claiming victory after his Protecting Americans Action Fund (PAAF) supported 12 winning candidates out of 14 in recent prosecutor races nationwide. The fund targeted races featuring candidates favoring what Miyares calls “pro-criminal” reforms.
Miyares, chairman of the group, emphasized the divide between public sentiment on public safety and the policies of the left. His organization is reportedly the only one focused on electing conservative local prosecutors across the country, mirroring strategies used by PACs supporting attorneys general and House members.
PAAF initially identified 40 key races, narrowing its focus to 14 and investing $2.5 million. A significant portion, $500,000, went to a race in Hillsborough County, Fla., to unseat a prosecutor previously suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis for allegedly neglecting state laws.
Miyares asserted that his group plays a crucial role in informing voters about prosecutor backgrounds, filling a void left by the decline of local news coverage. He contends that PAAF holds prosecutors accountable for actions such as offering lenient plea deals or declining to prosecute certain crimes.
Miyares also noted the impact of Donald Trump’s “law and order” message on the GOP
