A vehicle crashed into a two-story apartment building in Virginia Beach on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, resulting in two people being hospitalized and multiple residents displaced.
Virginia Beach Fire and EMS units responded to the 350 block of Fernwood Court at 5:20 p.m. After reports of a technical rescue confined space incident involving a vehicle inside a building with potential collapse and people trapped.
Upon arrival, crews found a car fully inside the structure of the apartment complex. An adult male driver and a child who was inside the building were both entrapped and transported to local hospitals shortly before 6 p.m.
A third individual was evaluated and treated at the scene for breathing difficulty but did not require hospitalization.
Thirteen residents were displaced from the building following the crash, according to fire officials.
Footage released by the Virginia Beach Fire Department shows crews working to remove the vehicle from the housing complex.
