A teardown of the Vivo X300 Ultra has revealed the internal hardware of the device, highlighting a camera system that utilizes some of the largest sensors currently available in the smartphone market. The disassembly, conducted by WekiHome, provides a detailed look at how Vivo has integrated high-resolution sensors and specialized hardware into the flagship’s chassis.

The device was previously announced in China, with a global variant expected to follow. Internal images shared by Vivo product manager Han Boxiao on Weibo further detail the hardware configuration, which is designed to position the X300 Ultra as a professional-grade tool for both still photography and filmmaking.

Advanced Camera Hardware Specifications

The Vivo X300 Ultra features a rear camera array consisting of three primary sensors and a specialized auxiliary sensor. The main camera utilizes a 200-megapixel Sony LYT-901 sensor with a size of 1/1.12 inches and a 35mm focal length.

The ultra-wide camera is equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-818 sensor. This sensor measures 1/1.28 inches and has a 14mm focal length. According to a machine translation of Han Boxiao’s Weibo post, this ultra-wide sensor remains the industry’s strongest due to its size. For technical context, the 1/1.28-inch sensor used for the ultra-wide lens on the X300 Ultra is the same size as the main camera sensor found in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The telephoto capabilities are handled by a 200-megapixel periscope camera using a Samsung Isocell HP0 sensor. This sensor has a size of 1/1.4 inches and a focal length of 85mm.

To improve color accuracy, Vivo has included a 5-megapixel multi-spectral sensor. This additional hardware is intended to provide more precise color reproduction across different lighting environments.

Strategic Focus on Video Production

While previous Ultra models from Vivo focused heavily on still imagery, the X300 Ultra represents a shift toward professional video capabilities. Vivo Senior Product Manager Keshav Chugh indicated that the brand dedicated its efforts to video recording for this generation, as the company felt its still imagery was already highly optimized.

To support this focus, the X300 Ultra is capable of shooting 4K120 video using all of its rear cameras. The device supports 10-bit Log and Dolby Vision, providing creators with greater flexibility during the post-production process. The company is emphasizing its optical image stabilization (OIS) as a key differentiator for handheld shooting.

Internal Components and Performance

Beyond the camera system, the X300 Ultra incorporates high-end processing hardware to manage the data from its high-resolution sensors. The device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

The internal architecture also includes significant amounts of RAM and a large battery to support the power demands of 4K120 video recording and high-resolution processing. The device also supports fast wired and wireless charging and features high-level ingress protection.

Market Positioning and Competition

The X300 Ultra follows the X100 Ultra and X200 Ultra, continuing a trend of prioritizing camera hardware in Vivo’s top-tier flagship line. This approach places the device in direct competition with other camera-centric flagships, such as the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

The engineering required to fit three large sensors into the chassis resulted in a noticeable camera module on the rear of the device. However, the WekiHome teardown demonstrates that Vivo utilized a similar internal organization to the X200 Ultra, with specific adjustments to create the necessary space for the larger sensor array.
