Williams, originally from Howth, Dublin, but now based in the UK, expressed her delight and honor at being selected for the role. She stated that leading the parade through the city has always been a dream of hers. “Growing up in Dublin, St Patrick’s Day has always been a special time for me and leading the parade through the city is something I’ve always dreamed of,” she said.

The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Roots,’ a concept Williams enthusiastically embraces. The theme explores identity, belonging, and shared stories across generations, celebrating heritage and community growth. “I’m delighted with the theme of roots this year, as I will talk up my home country and what I love about being Irish any time I get the chance,” Williams added. Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, praised Williams, stating she “embodies the energy and ambition of a global Ireland.” He highlighted that her personal journey reflects the experiences of many Irish people both at home and abroad. “Her journey reflects the lived experience of so many of our people at home and abroad. As we celebrate Roots and Ireland’s one shared story, I know she will lead this year’s Parade with warmth, pride and a great sense of occasion,” McAdam said.

Williams has established a successful career spanning various fields, becoming a well-recognized Irish personality in the United Kingdom. Her selection as Grand Marshal underscores her connection to her Irish roots and her ability to represent Irish creativity and storytelling on an international platform.

The parade is expected to draw large crowds, with over half a million people reportedly attending the celebrations in Dublin last year, according to previous reports. The announcement follows a tradition of selecting prominent individuals to lead the annual parade. Last year, Victoria Smurfit served as Grand Marshal, leading the procession on March 18, 2025.
