Farizon Auto is making a bold entry into the European electric van market, aiming to disrupt established brands with a focus on long range, generous payload capacity, and a surprisingly premium feature set. The company’s initial offering boasts a substantial 106 kWh battery providing up to 550 km of autonomy, and prices ranging from €36,790 to €49,950 (excluding VAT) depending on configuration.
A New contender in the Electric Van Segment
Farizon isn’t simply aiming to compete on price. Calum James, Farizon’s Director in the United Kingdom, outlined the company’s strategy in a recent interview with Autocar, emphasizing a commitment to providing a superior driver experience. ”We are positioning ourselves as, perhaps, a little more premium than some of the other manufacturers, in terms of the specification that we put in the vehicle with a standard,” James explained.
This translates to features typically found in higher-end vehicles, including ventilated and heated seats, a heated steering wheel, multiple electric power outlets, and a extensive 360-degree camera system. Farizon believes these additions will be a key differentiator, attracting drivers accustomed to a higher level of comfort and convenience.
Winning Over Drivers with Total Cost of ownership
The electric van market presents a unique challenge. While the initial purchase price of an electric van is often higher than its diesel counterpart, Farizon is focusing on the long-term benefits and total cost of ownership.
“Electric vans usually have a higher list price than combustion. So, if you have a large fleet with several divisions, you have an operator with results that will analyze things like the SV and say: ‘Well, I can buy a cheaper diesel van than an electric.’ But they do not always take into account the total cost of the useful life,” James pointed out.
Farizon is targeting fleet operators, highlighting the potential for significant savings through reduced fuel costs, lower maintenance requirements, and potential tax incentives. The company believes this approach will “break all expectations” as it establishes itself in the UK, its initial European launch market. The emphasis is on demonstrating that the upfront investment in a Farizon van will be offset by long-term operational savings.
Expanding the Range and European Footprint
Currently, Farizon offers several body and mechanical options to cater to diverse business needs. The company plans to expand its lineup with additional body variants in the coming years, building a comprehensive range of electric vans.
while the initial focus is on the UK, Farizon is actively preparing for wider European expansion. Currently, potential customers in Spain can schedule test drives through the company’s official website: https://registro.farizon-auto.es/. specific timelines for expansion into other European countries haven’t been announced, but the company is laying the groundwork for a broader rollout.
Farizon’s arrival signals a new era of competition in the electric van market, one where premium features, long range, and a focus on total cost of ownership are set to redefine expectations. The company is resolute not just to sell vans, but to “win the hearts and minds of the drivers” and become a leading force in the future of commercial electric mobility.
