Bengaluru, Nov 30, 2024: Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust and Volvo Group India are working together to improve morning nutrition for government school children in Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district. This program will support about 17,000 students across 272 government schools.

The initiative includes the provision of SaiSure Millet (Ragi) Multi-Nutrient Health Mix, which is served with government-sponsored milk through the Ksheera Bhagya scheme. This specially formulated health mix aims to support child health, addressing malnutrition and building a healthier future.

An event on Nov 27 at GKBMS School in Kammavari Pete featured notable attendees, including Sharath Bache Gowda, MLA of Hoskote; Bailanjannappa P, DDPI, Bangalore Rural; G V Rao, CSR Director at Volvo Group India; and Jayaprakash Tallam, Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust.

Gowda highlighted his previous work with Evexia Nutritions and noted his collaboration with the Annapoorna Trust. He praised the SaiSure Multi-Nutrient Health Mix for tackling both visible and hidden hunger. He also acknowledged Volvo India’s significant contributions to community welfare and mentioned that the SaiSure Ragi Fortified Health program now benefits 5.56 million children statewide.

Rao shared that Volvo has a history of supporting local communities through various initiatives, including mobile medical vans and infrastructure development in schools and Anganwadi centers. He expressed pride in partnering with Annapoorna Trust.

Bailanjannappa noted that students enjoy milk since the introduction of the health mix. Tallam emphasized the importance of the nutrition mix in supporting children’s physical and mental growth. This product provides 50% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) and is given to children at no cost, thanks to donations from businesses, institutions, and individuals.
