Voters across Switzerland are selecting their top vehicles from a field of 44 contenders as the public vote for the Schweizer Auto des Jahres 2027 opens, with organizers offering a fully electric Smart #1 Brabus as the grand prize. The contest, now in its 16th year, represents the country’s largest automotive public jury, according to reporting by Blick.
While participants evaluate models ranging from compacts and sports cars to SUVs and family vehicles, the competition serves as both a consumer poll and a major industry showcase. Blick reported that the voting window remains open until November 22, 2026, allowing the public to cast votes online or via QR code.
Voters assign five points, three points, and one point to their top three favorite models from the 44 candidates. Europesays noted that the eligible vehicles include new releases launched in Switzerland during 2026 alongside models available for order through March 2027.
Forty-Four Contenders Compete For Swiss Votes
The field spans manufacturers alphabetically from Alpine to Zeekr, representing a broad cross-section of the current Swiss automotive market. Blick detailed that voters can choose their favorites among microcars, high-performance sports models, utility vehicles, and family cars.
Organizing the nationwide election are Ringier Medien Schweiz and partner Carmarket alongside media titles Blick, Schweizer Illustrierte, and L’Illustré, as reported by Blick. The collaborative effort establishes what the organizers designate as the country’s most significant nationwide automotive vote.

Europesays confirmed that Andreas Engel serves as the auto and mobility editor covering the publication of the contest. The initiative relies heavily on digital participation, directing voters to the official portal at www.schweizer-auto-des-jahres.ch.
Prizes Feature Electric Vehicle And Automotive Gear
Participation in the public vote enters individuals into a drawing for a high-performance electric vehicle valued at over 50’000 francs. Blick specified the exact retail value of the grand prize as 50’690 francs for the Smart #1 Brabus.
The top prize vehicle features all-wheel drive, four doors, five seats, and a power output of 428 horsepower, enabling acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds. Europesays noted that the model delivers a WLTP driving range exceeding 400 kilometers.
Additional prizes include a set of Continental tires valued at 1,000 francs and a silver Samsonite and Mercedes-Benz co-branded Spinner 55 EXP hard-shell travel suitcase valued at 495 francs. Both Blick and Europesays confirmed that these secondary and tertiary rewards support the contest’s prize pool.
Market Platform Expands Expert-Checked Inventory
Co-organizer Carmarket operates as a specialized Swiss automotive marketplace providing expert-inspected vehicles for purchase or leasing. Blick reported that the platform hosts an inventory exceeding 65,000 new cars and used vehicles from verified commercial dealers.
The platform has recently expanded its service offerings beyond vehicle transactions to include tires and professional installation services. Europesays corroborated that Carmarket maintains its position as the sole nationwide Swiss automotive marketplace dedicated exclusively to professionally vetted listings.
Voters have until November 22, 2026, to finalize their selections and submit their ballots. The specific model accumulating the highest cumulative points total will be officially crowned as the Schweizer Auto des Jahres 2027.
Following the close of the voting period in late November 2026, organizers will tally the ballots ahead of the formal announcement of the winning vehicle. Deliveries and orders for eligible models continue through the designated March 2027 ordering cutoff window.
The winning vehicle designation and the prize winners will be announced following the completion of the audit and drawing processes managed by Ringier Medien Schweiz and its publishing partners.
