VP Gibran Applauds Baznas Efforts in Alleviating Poverty and Enhancing Community Welfare in Indonesia
Vice President Gibran Praises National Alms Agency for Poverty Alleviation in Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka praised the National Alms Agency (Baznas) for its role in reducing poverty in Indonesia. He highlighted Baznas programs aimed at helping people in urban areas and disadvantaged regions.
Gibran urged Baznas to keep supporting the government in fighting extreme poverty and stunting through the Free Nutritious Meals program. He stated, “All elements must work together to make government programs successful.”
Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad noted a significant increase in alms and donations in Indonesia, growing by 30 percent annually in recent years. This success is attributed to flagship programs like the Baznas Health Center, Microfinance, Alms Village, Santripreneur, Baznas Scholarship, Z-Chicken, and Z-Mart.
The agency also focuses on providing livable houses and disaster response efforts. Achmad mentioned Gibran’s dedication to community welfare when he was the mayor of Surakarta City, where alms collection rose from Rp4 billion to Rp12 billion.
Achmad hopes this commitment will extend nationally to help more people in need and enhance Baznas’ support for government programs. He expressed optimism that, with collaborative efforts from the government, community, and private sector, the poverty alleviation goal can be reached.
