thirteen years after his stunning Olympic victory in London 2012, Trinidad & Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott has once again proven his dominance in the javelin, securing gold at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 with a throw of 88.16 meters.The win, achieved on Thursday, September 18, 2025, wasn’t the complete shock of his Olympic debut, but it certainly exceeded expectations in a fiercely competitive field.

Walcott steadily built his lead throughout the competition.He initially took the front position in the second round with a throw of 87.83 meters, then solidified his claim too the title with an even more impressive 88.16-metre throw in the fourth round. This consistency proved crucial in securing the win.

Chasing Walcott was two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, who claimed silver with a best throw of 87.38 meters. A surprise bronze medal went to Curtis Thompson of the United states, achieving a personal best with a throw of 86.67 meters.

The competition saw a mix of results for other top contenders. Julian Weber, who entered the championships as the world leader, finished fifth with 86.11 meters. Defending champion Neeraj Chopra of india placed eighth with 84.03 meters, while Arshad Nadeem, the Olympic champion, finished tenth with 82.75 meters.

Walcott’s victory is a testament to his enduring talent and dedication. His ability to perform under pressure on the world stage, more then a decade after his initial breakthrough, is truly remarkable.
