Walmart Takes Flight:‍ Drone Delivery Expands to Five⁢ States

Walmart is considerably expanding its drone delivery service, bringing the ultra-fast option to 100 more stores across Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. This move positions Walmart as the first retailer ⁤to scale ⁤drone delivery across five states, including parts of Arkansas, florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas.

The expansion aims⁣ to provide customers wiht a speedy delivery option,with drones operating within a six-mile radius of the stores.As 2021, Walmart has completed more than 150,000 drone ⁤deliveries.

According to Walmart,the most frequently requested items for drone drone delivery include everyday essentials such as ice cream,fresh fruit,and pet food. The service also caters to urgent needs,delivering items like hamburger ‍buns,eggs,and over-the-counter medications.

This initiative is part of WalmartS broader strategy to compete with Amazon and leverage‍ its extensive network of ⁤over 4,600 stores to fulfill online orders more efficiently.Walmart already offers services like Express Delivery, promising delivery in as‍ little as 30 minutes, and InHome, which delivers groceries directly ‍into customers’ refrigerators. The company also provides same-day prescription deliveries nationwide.

Greg Cathey, walmart’s senior vice president for U.S. transformation ⁣and innovation, noted that over half of the 150,000 items typically stocked in a Walmart ⁣store are eligible for drone delivery.
