Updated June 17, 2025
Walmart and Soda Health, a health technology company, are collaborating to introduce the Walmart Everyday Health Signals™ program. This initiative aims to provide personalized nutrition, wellness guidance and improve population health for select Medicare Advantage and Medicaid members using retail shopping insights.
The program supports daily health decisions by leveraging real-time retail data and targeted benefit delivery, meeting individuals during their regular shopping experiences. Enrolled members can opt-in to receive tailored insights based on their shopping patterns on Walmart.com.
The program offers several data-driven tools:
- Personalized Insights: Guidance tailored to individual wellness goals and shopping habits, including nutritional data for purchases like fruits and vegetables.
- Goal-Oriented Support: Identification of products to support wellness goals, along with customized healthy recipes and shopping lists.
- Benefit and Care Coordination: With member consent, health plans can use shopping insights to identify additional benefits and improve care coordination.
With a significant portion of the U.S. population residing within 10 miles of a Walmart store, the Walmart Everyday Health Signals™ program offers broad reach, integrating healthcare and nutrition into an accessible environment.
“Our collaboration with Walmart demonstrates how the retail and healthcare sectors can work together to improve population health—starting with nutrition,” said Robby Knight, co-founder and CEO of Soda Health. “Soda Health is helping to create connections between health plans and retailers to serve their members better by using opt in data to personalize interventions. As the focus increasingly turns toward the role of food as medicine, programs like this will help define better ways of improving outcomes and reducing the cost of care.”
What’s next
The program will continue to expand, possibly incorporating more retailers and health plans to reach a wider audience and further personalize the role of food as medicine.
