The Warehouse Order Selector role is a critical part of the foodservice supply chain, responsible for picking orders for delivery to restaurants and other venues in the local community. According to Sysco, the position involves a physically active role, including operating electric pallet jacks and/or forklifts, organizing and palletizing product, and other assigned duties.

Job Responsibilities

The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities related to the storage and movement of materials and finished goods. These include:

• Shipping and receiving
• Warehousing
• Order filling, picking, and packing
• Inventory control and records management
• Dispatch
• Developing transport schedules, methods, and routes
• Analyzing and projecting transportation costs
• Coordinating customs clearances and permits
• Maintaining, loading, packing, and driving vehicles
• Evaluating, selecting, and managing relationships with external transport providers
• Acquiring and managing fleet vehicles

Working Conditions and Requirements

The position requires candidates to be at least 18 years of age and possess 0-1 year of relevant work experience. The job is described as physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting of products weighing between 10 and 75 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Candidates must also be able to frequently reach up to 72 inches, constantly bend and twist while operating equipment, and work in extreme temperatures, including cooler and freezer environments.

The role also requires working on one’s feet for 10-12 hours daily. Preferred qualifications include one year of experience operating an electric pallet jack or forklift, one year of warehouse or military experience, one year of selection experience, and two years of consistent work history.
