WBSC Premier 12 held in Japan with record number of TV and radio broadcasts – World Baseball Softball Confederation – World Games

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has announced the television broadcast partner and streaming service in Japan for “Rakuzasu presents WBSC Premier 12 2024”.

Japanese broadcasters Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) and TV Asahi have acquired the television broadcasting rights for this year’s international baseball tournament “Premier 12” against Japan, and Prime Video and J SPORTS have acquired the streaming distribution rights. . Additionally, J SPORTS has acquired broadcasting rights on BS/CS satellite channels.

TBS and TV Asahi will broadcast the opening round and super round (if Japan advances) against Japan on terrestrial TV. All matches against Japan in the opening round and super round will be streamed live on Prime Video.

In the opening round, TV Asahi will broadcast the Group B opening match between Japan and Australia to be held in Nagoya on November 13th, followed by the match against Cuba on November 17th and the match against the Dominican Republic on November 18th. TBS has acquired the rights to broadcast the games against South Korea on the 15th and Chinese Taipei on the 16th.

The first game of the Super Round and the final/third place deciding match (if Japan advances) will be broadcast on TV Asahi, while the games on November 22nd and 23rd will be broadcast on TBS (both if Japan advances).

J SPORTS will live broadcast and stream 25 opening round games, including all Group A games and Group B games in which Japan will not be participating, as well as three Super Round day games. In addition, the opening round match against Japan, the three night games of the super round, the third-place match, and the final match will be broadcast and distributed on demand on J SPORTS in December.

Furthermore, Nippon Broadcasting System acquired radio broadcast rights. To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the opening of the network, it has been announced that Samurai Japan’s Premier 12 matches will be broadcast starting from the Super Round (if Japan qualifies to participate).

The 3rd WBSC Premier 12 will be played by the top 12 teams in the WBSC/KONAMI men’s baseball world rankings as of December 31, 2023.

The tournament begins on November 9th with Group A matches in Guadalajara and Tepic (Mexico). The participating countries are host country Mexico, which is ranked 2nd in the world rankings, Venezuela, which is ranked 4th, the United States, which is 5th, the Netherlands, which is 7th, Puerto Rico, which is 8th, and Panama, which is 10th.

Group B consists of Japan in 1st place, Chinese Taipei in 2nd place (tied with Mexico), South Korea in 6th place, Cuba in 9th place, Dominican Republic in 12th place, and Australia in 15th place.
