Wear OS 6 Bug Ruins Custom Watch Faces on Pixel & Galaxy Watches

Wear OS 6 Bug Ruins Custom Watch Faces on Pixel & Galaxy Watches

January 2, 2026 Lisa Park - Tech Editor Tech

## Wear OS 6‌ is causing “ghosting” issues with always-On Display transitions

A new ⁣bug in Wear OS ‌6 is causing a visual glitch⁤ with the Always-On Display (AOD) on ⁢Pixel adn⁢ Galaxy Watches. Instead of a smooth⁢ transition between the full watch face and the ‌simplified AOD version when the wrist is lowered, users are‌ experiencing a “ghosting” effect.

This manifests as an overlapping, obvious mess ⁣of numbers and hands from⁢ both the active watch face and the AOD, rather than ‌a clean fade. The ‍issue is affecting a wide range of devices, including the Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch 8, and ⁢Watch‍ Ultra,‍ indicating it’s a platform-level problem within Wear OS 6 itself.

You can find ⁣more details on the issue at PiunikaWeb.
