Weekend Events in Hoover

Friday Night Football

  • Hoover Bucs vs. Opelika Bulldogs: 7 p.m. at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. Tickets: $12.
  • Spain Park Jags vs. Russell County Warriors: 7 p.m. at Jaguar Stadium. Tickets: $12.

Basketball

  • Spain Park Boys: Play at Prattville. Ninth graders at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 5:45 p.m., varsity at 7 p.m.
  • Hoover Girls Varsity: Competing in Bulldog Classic at Chelsea at 3 p.m.

Wrestling

  • Spain Park Wrestling: Junior varsity at a tournament in Mountain Brook; varsity at a duals tournament in Moody.

Hoover Soccer Invitational

  • Over 200 youth soccer teams from six Southeastern states compete at Hoover Metropolitan Complex, Friday-Sunday.

Softball

  • Birmingham Thunderbolts 5 Star Fall Exposure Tournament: Games at Hoover Metropolitan Complex, Calera, and Alabaster.

Cheerleading Competition

  • Worldwide Spirit Association: At Finley Center, Hoover Metropolitan Complex, Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets: $26.62 for adults, $20.48 for kids ages 5-10. Free for children 4 and under.

Theater

  • “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”: Presented by Spain Park High School. Showtimes: 7 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets: $10.

Comedy Shows

  • Stardome Comedy Club: All-star shows at 7 p.m. Friday and 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets: $10 for ages 18 and older.
  • Tim Jennings: Friday in the Broadway Room, doors open at 6:15 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20 for ages 16 and older.
  • Nasser Al-Rayess: Sunday show, doors open at 5:15 p.m., show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $20 to $40 for ages 18 and older.

Friends of the Hoover Library Book Sale

  • Used books and media sale, Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Cash, checks, and credit cards accepted.

Groovy Button Bash

  • Hoover Public Library: Activities for children celebrating National Button Day with Pete the Cat. Starts Saturday at 10 a.m.
