Wendake Police Officers Ratify Collective Agreement with Notable Pay Increases

Agreement Reached with Wendat Nation Council
The Wendake Police Department officers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4613, overwhelmingly ratified a new collective agreement with the Wendat Nation Council. The agreement was approved by 91.67% of union members following a general meeting on October 22, 2025, and officially signed on December 12, 2025, at the Wendat Nation office.
Substantial Salary Increases and Modernized Structure
This new agreement represents a significant advancement for the Wendake police force. It includes substantial salary increases, reaching up to 46% for certain positions, based on job category, level, and experience. Thes increases acknowledge the expertise and responsibilities of the Wendake Police Department members.
The agreement features a modernized salary scale, benchmarked against regional comparables and tailored to the unique context of Indigenous communities. It also strengthens management and consultation processes and clarifies disciplinary and administrative procedures, aiming for greater openness and a positive work environment.
Union and Leadership Praise Agreement
“we are proud to have presented such a collective agreement to the members. Wendake police officers are now recognized as up to their tasks and responsibilities,” stated Sébastien Campana,CUPE union advisor,in a press release. “We must salute the maturity and unity of the negotiating committee, as well as the openness demonstrated by the employer in the search for fair and lasting ground.”
Richard Duchesneau, president of CUPE 4613, emphasized the long-term vision behind the agreement. “This agreement is modern, fair and enduring.It reflects the exemplary professionalism of our members and reinforces the central role of the Wendake police in the security and cohesion of the community,” he said.
Nicolas Jean Sioui, vice-president of CUPE 4613, added that the agreement “concretely recognizes the professionalism and commitment of the members. It offers conditions commensurate with the responsibilities assumed and ensures a solid foundation for the future of the Wendake Police Department.”
