Director Wes Anderson’s admiration for Jodie Foster is no secret. He recently revealed his persistent, yet unsuccessful, attempts to cast her in his films. Despite multiple efforts across several projects, the collaboration has yet to materialize. Anderson discussed his casting role and his admiration for Foster in a recent interview.
“It used to be every movie, we went to Jodie foster for a part,” Anderson said. “And I think I did it three movies in a row, maybe four. And I met her, and I liked her.And I thought it was going to get her. And I think she’s just great, Jodie Foster. And I loved her.”
Anderson remains optimistic about the possibility of working with Foster in the future.He acknowledged that timing and mutual interest play a crucial role in casting decisions.
“I still would like to get Jodie Foster,” Anderson said. “But I guess after asking few times, I thought maybe I’m not … I think sometiems somebody has an idea of the kind of work they want to do at that time in his or her life, and we weren’t right.”
