Why are there so many illegal settlements? BBC investigative report: How “outposts” have proliferated in the West Bank

Aisha, a Palestinian woman living in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, said she was held at gunpoint by Israeli settlers in October last year and told to leave the land she had lived in for 50 years.
BBC Eye’s investigation has revealed that the number of “outposts” set up by settlers has increased dramatically in recent years.
A BBC analysis finds that at least 196 Israeli outposts have been established in the West Bank, half of them since 2019.
The outpost is illegal under Israeli and international law.
However, the investigation revealed that the International Zionist Organization, which has close ties to the Israeli government, is arranging the funds and land for the establishment of the outpost.
Experts say the establishment of these outposts has allowed settlers to rapidly seize large swaths of land and has led to increased violence and intimidation of Palestinians.
The BBC also spoke to Moshe Sharvit, the settler who allegedly evicted Aisha’s family.
