WEST HAVEN, Utah – Forget buffering and lag. West Haven residents and businesses are now surfing the web at warp speed thanks to the completion of a citywide fiber optic network. this $17.6 million project, a collaboration between the city, the Utah Infrastructure Agency (UIA), and UTOPIA Fiber, has catapulted West Haven to the forefront of internet connectivity in the united States.

“We partnered with UTOPIA fiber on this community-owned network to address the critical need for internet access in our city,” said West Haven Mayor Rob Vanderwood. “With residential speeds of up to 10 gigabits, a choice of multiple internet service providers with no contracts, and increased competition among private sector providers, West Haven now enjoys the fastest speeds in the nation and more affordable pricing without compromising speed, reliability, or customer service. Construction on the fiber-to-the-home network began in June 2023, following the West Haven City Council’s approval of the project in July 2022. The first homes were connected in April, and the project, which now reaches over 6,600 residential addresses, was completed on schedule. The UIA financed the project through a bond, which will be repaid through subscriber revenue.
