West Virginia Delegate-Elect Arrested on DUI Charge
Martinsburg, WV – Joseph De Soto, recently elected to represent District 91 in the West Virginia House of Delegates, was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of driving under the influence.De Soto, a Republican, secured victory in the November election and was set to be sworn into office in January.According to the Martinsburg Police Department, officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically around 2:00 a.m. De Soto was subsequently pulled over and arrested after failing a field sobriety test. he was transported to the Eastern Regional Jail and later released on bond.
“This is a serious matter, and I take these charges very seriously,” De Soto said in a brief statement released Thursday afternoon. “I am cooperating fully with the authorities and will address this situation directly.”
