Westfield High School Student Killed in Shooting; 14-Year-Old Suspect Detained

Royce Witchet, a 15-year-old student at Westfield High School in Texas, died following a fatal shooting outside the school. According to reports from local authorities and law enforcement officials, a 14-year-old male suspect, also believed to be a student at Spring Independent School District, was taken into custody in connection with the homicide on September 23, 2026.

School authorities and the Houston Police Department stated that the emergency call reporting gunshots was received at approximately 8:21 a.m., near the morning arrival time. Shortly after at 8:24 a.m., a school employee who works as a fire instructor arrived to attempt life-saving measures on the teenager.
