What is Pixel 11 Pause Point and How to Use It

Google has introduced a new Digital Wellbeing feature called Pause Point on the Pixel 11 series, adding a brief delay before users can open potentially distracting applications.

Understanding Pixel 11 Pause Point Features

Pause Point is designed to curb endless scrolling by introducing an intentional interruption before launching apps like Instagram, Threads, YouTube, or mobile games. When configured, the feature forces users to take a brief breather or answer a prompt before accessing selected software. Users can choose from five distinct options: Breathe, Remind, Divert, Plan, and Reflect. These options can be toggled individually, or users can enable multiple settings to have the device cycle through them at random. Another setting, Divert, attempts to redirect users to a pre-selected alternative app, such as a workout tool or a puzzle game, instead of opening social media platforms.

How to Enable Pause Point on Supported Hardware

The feature is currently restricted to the Pixel 11 device lineup, encompassing the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. To activate the function, users must navigate to Settings, select Digital Wellbeing, and locate Pause Point under the Ways to disconnect section. From there, users can enable the tool, select their preferred interruption methods, and designate which applications require a Pause Point before launching. Testing reveals that availability can vary across software builds. Google has not yet clarified whether the feature will expand to older Pixel generations or other Android devices in future updates.
