White Christmas? Chance Higher Than Normal, Says Weatherman
could This be a White Christmas After all?
Hope for a snowy holiday season is growing as weather patterns shift.
With just 22 nights untill Christmas, visions of sugar plums and roaring fireplaces are dancing in our heads. But for many, teh ultimate holiday dream is a picture-perfect white Christmas.
Radio personalities Jordy Graat and Mark Versteden of omroep Brabant’s KEIgoeiemorgen have been holding out hope for a snowy holiday since August. Every Monday, they’ve grilled weatherman Floris Lafeber of Weerplaza about the chances of a white Christmas. Until recently, the outlook wasn’t promising, with Lafeber consistently predicting a mere 7% chance.
But this week,a glimmer of hope emerged.
“The chances are slightly higher than normal,” Lafeber announced on Monday morning, sending Jordy and Mark into a frenzy of excitement. While he cautioned against expecting an Elfstedentocht (a famous dutch ice skating race), the news that the probability has risen to 15% is certainly cause for festivity.
A shift in the Forecast
While a white Christmas is still not guaranteed, a change in weather patterns is fueling optimism.
“Tonight, the wind will shift, bringing cooler air to our country,” Lafeber explained. “We’ll definitely feel the difference, with temperatures dropping to 5 to 8 degrees. That’s a noticeable change from the above-average temperatures we’ve been experiencing lately.”
So, while we may need to keep our winter coats handy, the possibility of waking up to a blanket of snow on Christmas morning is looking a little brighter.
