Contreras Steals Home as White Sox Evaluate Rookie Catchers

Louis Cardinals are appreciating the recent performance of Willson Contreras, their former catcher now playing first base. A Wednesday rainout provided both teams a day of rest before Thursday’s scheduled doubleheader.
Contreras, a former All-Star catcher, made a memorable play in Tuesday’s 12-2 victory over the White Sox. In the fifth inning, he stole home, sliding in safely ahead of the tag from Chicago rookie catcher Edgar Quero. The play was confirmed after a replay review. Brendan Donovan,with four hits,and Ivan herrera,driving in four runs,also contributed to the Cardinals’ offensive surge.
Quero had two of the White Sox’s six hits and one RBI.
