Vancouver, British Columbia—The Vancouver Whitecaps continued their dominant MLS season Sunday, defeating the Seattle Sounders 3-0 and stretching their unbeaten run to a franchise-best 11 games.The Whitecaps, currently leading the league, now hold a 10-1-5 record with 35 points.
Teenage midfielder Jeevan Badwal, in only his second career start, opened the scoring in the 40th minute with his first MLS goal. Daniel Rios added another in the 70th minute, and Damir Kreilach sealed the victory with an 88th-minute penalty.
The Cascadia Cup clash saw the Whitecaps overcoming a depleted roster due to international duties and a recent illness that swept through the team after their CONCACAF Champions Cup final loss to Cruz Azul. The Sounders, simultaneously occurring, ended the match with only nine players after red cards were issued to defenders Nouhou Tolo and Johnathan Bell within a three-minute span in the second half.
