The film reveals that Houston auditioned for Al Teller, then president of CBS Records, who declined to sign her, suggesting she needed more time to mature. Teller had previously worked as Davis’s assistant. Bruce Lundvall, president of Elektra Records, also offered Houston a deal, which she turned down.
