The World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Investment Bank (EIB Global) signed an agreement on 6 March 2025 to provide a €10 million grant aimed at strengthening public health infrastructure and services across Lebanon.
The agreement was signed in Luxembourg during the EIB Group Forum by WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and EIB Global Vice-President Thomas Östros, according to an EIB press release.
Restoring Lebanon’s Central Public Health Laboratory
A primary objective of the €10 million initiative is the re-establishment of Lebanon’s Central Public Health Laboratory.
Support for Patients with Chronic Diseases
The grant prioritizes the delivery of medication and healthcare support for more than 50,000 people living with chronic conditions.
