Keen Ruffalo, the 25-year-old son of actor Mark Ruffalo, is starring in the Prime Video series Sterling Point, an eight-episode coming-of-age drama. According to Gazettely, Ruffalo plays the twin brother of a character named Annie, played by Ella Rubin, after the siblings inherit their grandfather’s island in Canada.

The series is written and directed by Megan Park, known for The Fallout and My Old Ass. Park stated she intended to create a young-adult series with authentic emotional texture, according to Gazettely.

Keen Ruffalo’s transition from fashion design to acting

Ruffalo did not initially plan to pursue a career in acting. He was studying fashion design when the COVID-19 pandemic began, a period he described as a time of depression and uncertainty regarding his future, according to Gazettely.

Ruffalo told Gazettely that watching his father find fulfillment in the acting craft prompted him to explore the profession himself. He subsequently enrolled in several acting conservatories to build his skills before securing professional roles.

During an appearance on TODAY, Ruffalo discussed how his character’s arc in Sterling Point mirrors his own real-life decision to leave fashion design for performing, according to Gazettely.

Upbringing and early exposure to film

Despite his father’s celebrity, Ruffalo grew up on a farm in upstate New York. He told Gazettely he did not realize his father’s profession differed from those of his neighbors until a stranger asked him to get a Hulk toy autographed.

Ruffalo’s first experience on a professional set occurred at age 12, when he worked as an extra in the 2013 film Begin Again, which also starred his father. He noted that the most impactful moment of that experience was watching the finished scene with his father at the movie’s premiere, according to Gazettely.

Current projects and professional trajectory

Beyond Sterling Point, Ruffalo is appearing in the upcoming comedy Nimrods. His previous credits include small roles in Hal & Harper and the series Task, the latter of which also featured his father, according to Gazettely.

While his acting résumé is expanding, Ruffalo told Gazettely he has no current interest in moving behind the camera to direct or produce, choosing instead to focus on his performances as Sterling Point reaches audiences.
