Netflix has confirmed that the romantic comedy series Emily in Paris will conclude with its upcoming sixth season. The series, created by Darren Star, follows the professional and personal journey of Emily Cooper, an aspiring marketing executive who moves from the United States to Paris to begin a new career.
Production for the final season began in Greece on May 23, 2026. The narrative is expected to pick up from the conclusion of the fifth season, which was released on the streaming platform in late 2025 and focused on Emily’s experiences in Rome and Venice. The plot of the sixth season will follow Emily after she received a postcard from Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, requesting that she meet him in Greece.
A Natural Conclusion for the Series
Despite the news of the show’s end, Netflix indicated that the decision was not a cancellation. The series has remained a ratings success for the streamer throughout its entire run. Show creator Darren Star stated that he is in agreement with the decision to call it a day after six seasons.
“Making Emily in Paris with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime. As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount, and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us. One can’t wait to share this last chapter with you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, inspiring your dreams of travel and your love of Paris. We will always have Emily in Paris!”Darren Star
Lead actress Lily Collins also addressed the conclusion of the series in a social media video, noting that the production team is currently filming the final episodes.
“Season six will bring you everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure of a lifetime. Our entire cast and crew are pouring our hearts into making this a fantastic farewell season, which we’re now filming. I can’t wait for all of the magic ahead, and to celebrate our final season with you in the most chic way yet.”Lily Collins
Production History and Public Reception
The series had a multi-platform production history, first being produced by the Paramount Network in 2018. Two years later, in 2020, the show moved to Netflix, where it achieved significant popularity globally.

The show’s success was accompanied by criticism within France, where some viewers accused the production of perpetuating national stereotypes. This backlash manifested in physical protests, including the spraying of offensive graffiti on various locations used during the filming of the series.
Despite the local controversy, the show received official support from French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron expressed his support for the series and stated that he hoped the final years of the production would see the story return to the French capital.
