Lamborghini supercars are defining modern performance through hybrid drivability and mechanical emotion rather than straight-line speed alone, as electric family sedans and SUVs match the brutal acceleration once exclusive to exotic cars. Paolo Racchetti, model line director at Lamborghini, stated that electrification and advanced vehicle dynamics now drive the brand’s engineering philosophy in Milan, Italy.
Speed remains a necessary factor for super-sports cars, but Racchetti explained that it is no longer sufficient on its own. Racchetti told CarExpert in Milan that dynamic capabilities and overall driving emotion take precedence as raw acceleration becomes democratized across ordinary electric vehicles.

To preserve mechanical character, Lamborghini selected a hybrid architecture for its new Temerario, pairing a turbocharged internal combustion engine capable of revving past 10,000rpm with electric motors. Racchetti noted that this layout provides the emotional connection that only mechanics can deliver while simultaneously enhancing overall drivability.
Engineering the Temerario Powertrain and Handling
The Temerario serves as the entry-level successor to the Huracán and combines a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 with three electric motors to generate a combined 677kW. Lamborghini reports that the vehicle sprints from 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds while achieving a mass-produced supercar redline exceeding 10,000rpm.
Beyond straight-line output, the front electric motors distribute torque independently between the wheels to actively alter yaw and cornering behavior. This configuration supports 13 distinct drive setups, including a Drift mode featuring three separate levels. Racchetti emphasized that hybridization broadens the vehicle’s character, allowing it to function as a grand tourer, a rear-wheel-drive car, or an all-wheel-drive car.
The central coordinator for these systems is LDVI 2.0. Racchetti described this central controller as the mastermind overseeing software for the engine, gearbox, electric motors, damping system, and brakes. Electronics work to provide high performance without interruption, giving drivers increased confidence behind the wheel.
Future EV Roadmap and Sales Growth
This emphasis on emotion and configurable drivability explains why Lamborghini postponed its first fully electric vehicle indefinitely earlier this year. CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that the brand’s fourth model, a 2+2-seat GT car expected to draw from the Lanzador concept, will adopt plug-in hybrid power instead of pure electric propulsion. Winkelmann stated that buyers purchase a Lamborghini for experiences rather than daily transportation from point A to point B.

Despite the wider availability of high performance across the automotive market, Lamborghini achieved five consecutive years of record sales. The Italian manufacturer recorded 10,747 vehicle deliveries over the course of 2025.
