The highly anticipated trailer for Wicked: For Good, the sequel to the hit movie musical, has arrived. The trailer offers a glimpse of Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, reuniting after the initial events in Oz. Audiences also get a sneak peek at Alisha Weir as dorothy.
The original Wicked film, released in 2024, became the highest-grossing musical film adaptation, earning $755 million worldwide. It also garnered 10 Academy award nominations, securing wins for Best Costume Design and Best production Design.
jon M. Chu, the director, previously explained the decision to divide the adaptation into two parts. He said it was “impossible” to condense the story into a single film “without doing some real damage to it.” Both movies were filmed and edited concurrently.
Alongside Grande and Erivo, Wicked: For Good features Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the wizard of oz. The movie is slated for theatrical release Nov. 21.
