Lorena Wiebes Claims Second Consecutive Stage Win at Tour de France⁢ Femmes avec Zwift

Lorena Wiebes of SD Worx-Protime has once again showcased her sprinting prowess, securing her second consecutive stage ⁤victory at the Tour ‌de France Femmes avec⁤ Zwift. ⁢The dutch rider powered to a ‍dominant win in⁣ a massive bunch sprint into Poitiers, extending her ⁣remarkable run in the prestigious women’s cycling event.

Wiebes Outduels Vos in Thrilling ⁣Poitiers Sprint

In a tactical masterclass, Wiebes positioned⁢ herself ‌perfectly on the wheel of race leader Marianne Vos (visma-Lease a Bike). As the ⁣finish line approached, ‌wiebes launched ⁣her sprint, ‌surging past Vos and holding off a ⁢strong challenge from Lara Gillespie ⁣(UAE Team ADQ) to claim ‍the stage win. Eline Jansen (VolkerWessels Cycling Team) and American powerhouse‌ Chloe Dygert (canyon-SRAM⁣ Zondacrypto) rounded out the‍ top five, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

“It is really nice,” Wiebes expressed after her victory. “It is indeed so nice to also finish⁣ it off for‍ the girls who worked in⁤ the end really⁣ hard today. I am really happy with‍ this win, and it’s amazing to ‌win in ⁤green.”

Vos, despite being momentarily blocked by Dygert in the closing meters, ‍managed to break free and mount a ‍late charge. ⁢She drew ‍alongside Wiebes as the line loomed but ultimately finished a half-bike length ‌behind, a testament to Wiebes’ remarkable finishing speed.

Vos Retains Yellow Jersey, Wiebes Moves to Second Overall

While Wiebes ⁢celebrated her second⁢ successive stage triumph, marianne Vos successfully defended her yellow jersey.‍ However, ‌wiebes’ consistent performance⁢ has propelled her up the general classification, moving her into second place overall. She now sits just 12 ⁤seconds behind Vos, alongside Kim Le‍ Court (AG Insurance-soudal Team). Pauline Ferrand Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike) is a further six seconds back in fourth place.

The general classification is beginning to heat up, with defending champion Kasia Niewiadoma and 2023‌ winner Demi vollering poised to make their moves as the race transitions into more mountainous terrain.⁤ Vollering, who experienced a notable crash on Monday, showed resilience ‌by⁢ continuing in the race ‍and having a solid day. She will be⁣ looking to recover ⁤fully from her injuries ‌and challenge for the yellow jersey later in the week. For now, however,Vos remains firmly in⁢ control of the race lead.”Yeah, of course it is nice,” Vos commented⁢ on ⁤retaining ⁤the maillot jaune. “On such a day it‌ is indeed going to be chaotic. not only in the final,‌ actually from⁤ the start‍ it was fast and constantly winding,⁢ a high pace in the bunch. To stay in the bunch, stay in ⁢good ⁢position⁤ is pretty tough. Thanks to the team that worked really well. ‍I am vrey happy.”
