Vienna to Host Eurovision 2026: Stadthalle Set to Shine Again
Vienna,Austria – August 20,2025 - The city of Vienna has been chosen to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026,with the iconic Wiener stadthalle confirmed as the venue. This marks the third time Vienna will stage the competition,and the second time the Stadthalle will play host,following a successful run in 2015.
For nearly 70 years, the Eurovision Song Contest has served as a vibrant platform for music, emotion, and cross-cultural connection. Millions worldwide celebrate the power of shared experiences, the beauty of diversity, and the global language of music, both in person and through broadcasts.
The Wiener Stadthalle, a key component of the Vienna Holding group, is considered an ideal location for the event. It previously proved its capabilities during the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in 2015, offering a versatile space and ample opportunities for supporting programs for artists, delegations, media, and fans. The venue can accommodate up to 16,000 visitors in its largest hall, solidifying its position as one of Europe’s top arenas.
The 2015 contest saw the Stadthalle’s Halle D, measuring 92 meters long, 54 meters wide, and with a height of up to 17.74 meters,at the heart of the live performances. The event, held under the theme “Building Bridges,” brought together artists and delegates from around 40 nations, alongside over 1,500 journalists and thousands of enthusiastic fans.
The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest was a resounding success for Vienna and the Stadthalle, attracting approximately 100,000 attendees to the shows and reaching a television audience of over 170 million viewers across 45 broadcasting countries, with over two million tuning in within Austria alone.
Beyond the event itself, the Wiener Stadthalle substantially contributes to the Austrian cultural and entertainment industry. Through gastronomy, hospitality, travel, and other related sectors, it generates over 100 million euros in added value and supports around 1,700 jobs.Since its establishment, the Stadthalle has welcomed approximately 75 million visitors across 17,000 events, cementing its status as a leading cultural and entertainment hub in europe.
