Wild Encounters in Hangzhou: Tibetan Kids Unleash Their Curiosity at Hangzhou Wildlife World
Tibetan Kids Explore the Wonders of Nature at Hangzhou Wildlife World
On September 23, 44 teachers and students from Nagqu, Tibet, who participated in the Hangzhou-aided Tibet “Gazelle Project” – the second batch of youth learning and exchange groups in Senyi District in 2024, came to the Wildlife World in Fuyang, Hangzhou, to observe various animals up close and have an intimate contact with nature.
African elephants, long-tailed lemurs, gibbons, red pandas… Seeing so many animals, the Tibetan children were very excited. “Come and see the red panda’s performance, it’s so cute when it swings and pulls the rings!” “African elephants are so big, they stretch their trunks into the river to drink water!” “I learned a lot of knowledge, it turns out that apes don’t have tails, but monkeys do.”
The Parrot Square, Swan Lake, Cute Pet Park, Chinese National Treasure Area, African Tribe… in the Wildlife Park are full of laughter and joy from the Tibetan children. “In Tibet, we have many yaks, sheep, wolves and grizzly bears. If you want to see other animals, you have to take a bus to the zoo in Lhasa. Today, the children are very excited to see so many animals at once,” said Baima Wangmu, a teacher at the Second Primary School of Dasa Township, Senyi District.
In school, teachers have been encouraging students to go out and see more. ”Such opportunities to ‘get out of the house’ are precious. Our children are very lucky,” added Baima Wangmu.
