Discovering the Echidna’s Distinct Features
The echidna’s appearance is often likened to that of a hedgehog, but it also boasts a long, pointed snout reminiscent of an anteater and a pouch similar to those found in kangaroos. Despite its hedgehog-like appearance, the echidna is not closely related to these animals. In fact, it belongs to the Prototheria subclass of the mammal class and is a member of the monotreme order, which is shared by only one other animal: the platypus.
