Measures to Promote Wildlife Damage Compensation Insurance
To effectively alleviate the contradiction between wildlife protection and wildlife accidents, and accelerate the establishment of a wildlife harm compensation mechanism, Bortala Prefecture has taken multiple measures to promote the pilot work of wildlife harm compensation insurance.
Clarifying Goals and Tasks
The prefecture has implemented the prevention and control and compensation mechanism for terrestrial wildlife damage, creating the first terrestrial wildlife damage compensation insurance model in Xinjiang. The “Autonomous Prefecture Terrestrial Wildlife Damage Compensation Insurance (Trial) Work Plan” has been issued, clarifying the claims standards and formulating the claims process, effectively safeguarding the personal and property safety of farmers and herdsmen, and achieving the organic unity of ecological protection and economic and social sustainable development.
Increasing Training Intensity
To implement the “Notice on Issuing the Work Plan for Terrestrial Wildlife Damage Compensation Insurance (Trial) in the Autonomous Prefecture”, the State People’s Government organized a mobilization and training meeting for the Terrestrial Wildlife Damage Compensation Insurance (Trial) in the Autonomous Prefecture. A total of 287 people from relevant departments of the state, counties, cities, towns, villages and teams attended the training meeting.
Strengthening Publicity and Guidance
The prefecture has used television, newspapers, Bortala Zero Distance, Bortala Newspaper and other news media to carry out special publicity and reporting, continuing to increase publicity and guidance, organizing insurance, actively mobilizing herders to voluntarily purchase compensation insurance and increase the amount of insurance, and implementing the compensation insurance mechanism for damage caused by terrestrial wild animals to ensure that “no household or group is left out.”
