Yunfu Forestry Bureau Organizes Joint Law Enforcement Action of “Comprehensive Inspection” of Wild Animals

In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping’s thoughts on ecological civilization, earnestly implement the requirements of the comprehensive implementation of the forest chief system, give full play to the role of the inter-departmental joint meeting mechanism to combat illegal wildlife trade in our city, continue to consolidate the results of the “Decision of the National People’s Congress on Comprehensively Banning Illegal Wildlife Trade, Eliminating the Bad Habit of Indiscriminate Consumption of Wildlife, and Effectively Protecting the Life, Health and Safety of the People”, and strengthen the law enforcement and supervision of wildlife protection.
On the morning of September 12, the Municipal Forestry Bureau, together with the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Municipal Market Supervision Administration and the Yuncheng District Forestry Bureau, carried out a joint law enforcement action of “comprehensive inspection” of wildlife before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Two law enforcement inspection teams were dispatched for this operation, mainly to carry out law enforcement supervision and popularize the law. During the operation, law enforcement officers went to Jinshan Market, Nanlian Market, Chengbei Food Street, Cuile Hotel and other farmers’ markets and catering business places in Yuncheng District for inspection.
A comprehensive inspection of the food inventory and purchase and sales list of dishes in catering stores was carried out to verify whether there was any illegal operation and consumption of wild animals. The “Guangdong Provincial Wildlife Protection and Management Regulations” and publicity materials such as the prohibition of eating wild animals were distributed to raise the awareness of wildlife protection among operators and store employees, guide operators to consciously abide by the law, and standardize business behavior.
It is understood that this action has effectively played the role of the city’s inter-departmental joint conference system to combat illegal trade in wild animals and plants, and has brought together a strong force for relevant departments to work together and jointly manage.
It has effectively enhanced the awareness of wildlife protection and law-abiding operation among industry operators, deterred illegal hunting, illegal operation and eating of wild animals and other illegal and irregular behaviors, and further created a civilized and harmonious festival atmosphere.
