Wildlife Wonders in Qianjiang: A Thriving Ecological Haven
In recent years, Qianjiang District has vigorously carried out ecological protection and restoration, and the ecological environment has continued to improve, and “wild visitors” have frequently appeared in residents’ homes.
Recently, at the Yudongnan Terrestrial Wildlife Rescue Center in Chongqing, staff conducted a final inspection and evaluation of a group of recently rescued wild animals before release to ensure that they are healthy and energetic and can continue to survive after being released into the wild.
The wild animals released in this batch include the cute red and white flying squirrel, the petite and cute spotted forest raccoon, the sleepy gray forest owl, and the domineering hawk. Among them, the spotted forest civet, gray forest owl, and thunderous eagle are national second-level protected wild animals, and the red and white flying squirrel is a “three-have” protected animal.
They often appear in residential areas. On the one hand, the ecological environment has improved and the density of wild animal populations has increased. On the other hand, it reflects that citizens are increasingly aware of the protection of wild animals and can promptly report injured and trapped wild animals to the forestry department for proper disposal.
In the next step, the Qianjiang District Forestry Bureau will continue to increase investment in ecological protection and restoration, strengthen wildlife science popularization, further enhance the public’s awareness of wildlife protection, and better promote the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
