Will Buxton has praised Formula 1, the FIA and the teams for responding quickly to criticism of the 2026 regulations by implementing changes ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
Speaking on the Up To Speed podcast, Buxton noted that such rapid adjustments are unusual in the modern era of Formula 1, particularly given the demanding race calendar.
He acknowledged initial skepticism about the timing of the changes, given the upcoming sprint races and events like Monaco, but emphasized that the governing bodies and teams had listened to feedback from fans, teams and drivers.
Buxton said he had to take his hat off to Formula 1, the FIA, the teams and the drivers for acting swiftly and fairly, noting that while the new rules had received criticism, it was important to recognize when adjustments were made.
He warned that the alternative — ignoring concerns and insisting everything was fine — would have been a mistake, adding that the quick response demonstrated a willingness to engage with criticism rather than dismiss it.
