SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The St. Louis Blues have reassigned goaltender Will Cranley to the Springfield Thunderbirds, the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, from the Florida Everblades, the Blues’ ECHL affiliate. The announcement was made on February 18, 2026.
Cranley, 23, has appeared in one game for the Thunderbirds this season, stopping 27 shots in a November 8th contest against the Bridgeport Islanders. He has spent the majority of the 2025-2026 season with the Everblades, where he has posted a 14-3-1 record in 18 games. During his time in Florida, Cranley maintained a 2.17 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
The Ontario native recently represented the Everblades at the ECHL All-Star Classic in January, recognizing his strong performance throughout the season. He earned a 3-2 shootout win over the Indy Fuel on Saturday, February 18th, prior to the reassignment.
Cranley originally signed with the St. Louis Blues organization after being selected in the sixth round (163rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft from the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s. He has also played two AHL games with the Springfield Thunderbirds this season, posting a 0-1-0-0 record with a 4.91 goals-against average and a .867 save percentage.
The reassignment comes as Cranley is in the final year of his entry-level contract with the Blues. The move provides the Thunderbirds with added goaltending depth as they continue their season. The Thunderbirds missed the Calder Cup playoffs last season and opened their 2025-26 season on October 12th against the Laval Rocket.
The St. Louis Blues recently assigned 13 players to the Springfield Thunderbirds, including Cranley, signaling a focus on developing young talent within their AHL system. This influx of players aims to bolster the Thunderbirds’ roster and contribute to their pursuit of a playoff berth.
