Seo Yun and Sveta Moroz Awarded Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has named Seo Yun and Sveta Moroz as the recipients of the 2025 Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship. The scholarship, honoring the late Willa Kim, supports costume designers and their fine arts training.
Emilya Cachapero, TCG co-executive director, emphasized the scholarship’s role in supporting early-career artists. She added that Yun and Moroz embody the scholarship’s spirit through artistic courage and cultural inquiry.
The Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship provides up to $7,500 for tuition,supplies,and travel expenses. The selection panel included Callie Floor, Maile Speetjens, and Sara Ryung Clement.
Yun, a South Korean costume and scenic designer based in New York, is pursuing a BFA at NYU Tisch. Inspired by the surreal and avant-garde, Yun aims to create art exploring queerness and immigration. Yun also seeks transdisciplinary collaboration across performance and installation art.
Moroz, currently pursuing an MFA at Yale’s David Geffen School of Drama, left russia in 2022. A graduate of the Moscow Art Theatre School, Moroz has designed four productions with The Imaginists in California. Moroz’s design process begins with color, guiding choices in silhouette, fabric, and texture.
Willa Kim, a renowned costume designer, received Tony Awards for Sophisticated Ladies and The Will Rogers Follies. She also earned Drama Desk Awards for works such as The Screens and Operation sidewinder.Kim received lifetime achievement awards from the Fashion Institute of Technology and the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 2007.
