One business owner, Hamdy Saif, co-owner of Gino’s Pizza on Lancaster Avenue, reported that his restaurant was burglarized twice in the same week.
Wilmington, Delaware, businesses have been targeted in a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries over the past three weeks, prompting an investigation by the Wilmington Police Department. Between April 5th and April 27th, officers responded to 11 incidents at commercial locations located west of Interstate 95, according to police reports.

Police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity or information related to the burglaries.

1000 block of West 4th Street (multiple incidents spanning several hours)
1400 block of Lancaster Avenue (two incidents, several days apart)

1300 block of North Union Street (two incidents, ten days apart)
100 block of North Lincoln Street (attempted burglary)

One business owner, Hamdy Saif, co-owner of Gino’s Pizza on Lancaster Avenue, reported that his restaurant was burglarized twice in the same week. According to a report from 6abc, a suspect threw a brick through the window and entered the restaurant, stealing $250 from the register. Saif subsequently spent $1,400 to repair the window and stayed overnight at the shop, keeping the door unlocked in hopes of confronting the perpetrator.

Saif expressed a need for self-protection, stating, “You should protect yourself, your wealth and your money and your business.”
A Liberty Gas station on West Fourth Street was also targeted more than once during the three-week period. Surveillance footage from another attempted break-in at Walt’s Chicken Express on North Lincoln Street showed a suspect throwing a brick and attempting to kick down the door before fleeing, as reported by 6abc.
Local resident Lester Brice expressed concern about the impact of the burglaries on the neighborhood, stating, “Mad because we don’t know if they’re going to break into our house.”
