Banks also went to three sets, eventually overcoming Julia Grabher of Austria 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Though, it wasn’t all good ⁢news for the home⁢ contingent. Katie Swan, Yuriko Miyazaki, Ella McDonald,⁢ Ranah Akua Stoiber, Amelia Rajecki, and Katy Dunne⁣ all saw their ⁢wimbledon hopes dashed.

Swan ⁤fell to Spain’s Leyre Romero Gormaz ⁣in a tight match⁤ decided by two tiebreaks, 7-6 ‍(7-2), 7-6 (8-6). Miyazaki⁤ lost to Oksana selekhmeteva, of Russia, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, while McDonald was defeated by Darja Semenistaja, of Latvia, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
