Wind Energy Sets Historic Record: Minister Bayraktar Announces
Renewable energy generation in Turkey reached a record high to start the new year.
Wind power generation hit 259,076 MWh on January 3, 2026, setting a new daily record, according to data released January 10, 2026, by the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Approximately one-quarter of the electricity generated during the first week of January came from wind sources.
“With our increasing renewable installed capacity, we are achieving new records every day. We started 2026 with a record as well,” said Minister of Energy and Natural Resources alparslan Bayraktar.
The Ministry did not instantly release comparative data for previous years, but indicated further growth in renewable energy production is expected throughout 2026.
